National College Enrollments Continue to Slide

College enrollments have declined 1.4 percent compared to a year ago, with the largest drop occurring in the for-profit sector. Four-year private colleges experienced only a small decrease, while four-year public institutions experienced a small increase. Declining enrollments coincide with a stagnation of high school graduation rates, as well as a for-profit higher education industry that is smaller than it was a year ago.
