Lack of broadband hurts higher ed in rural areas

A new report, based on data from the Federal Communications Commission, indicates that lack of access to high-speed internet is a key challenge for Florida’s efforts to increase college degrees and boost economic development. Broadband access would help the state meet the Higher Education Coordinating Council’s goal of having 55 percent of the working-age population obtain a degree or certificate by 2025. Expanding high-speed access would ensure that Florida residents are able to pursue online learning opportunities.
